Updated: Sep 13, 2023

Las Vegas is known as a party mecca all over the world. From April until October the city is flooded with tourists from all over that is taking over the Las Vegas strip. Sometimes you want to visit Vegas and enjoy the hidden gems that only locals have come to know and love. If you are looking for things to do that is outside of the Strip, check out these things to do.

1. Lake Las Vegas: Yes, Las Vegas has a lake. And it’s quite beautiful. Located 25 miles from the strip and nestled in Henderson, Lake Las Vegas is its own mini community that boasts huge Hilton hotels, boutique shops, restaurants, water, and boat activities with views of luxury condos and mansions. It is even home to music icon, Celine Dion. With so much to do, it is very easy to dedicate a day to Lake Las Vegas, just be aware of how dark it gets at nighttime when driving in and out of the community.

2. Green Valley Ranch Resort Spa & Casino: While there is no question that most of the hotels on the Las Vegas Strip are some of the bests in the world, you may find yourself wanting the luxury in a more hidden setting. Look no further than the Green Valley Resort. Located in Henderson NV, this hotel oozes with luxury and has a beautiful spa, several restaurants, and a large casino inside the hotel. If you want additional shopping and dining options, down the street is the District at green Valley that consists of an outdoor mall and other luxury amenities to experience.

3. Grand Canyon: The Grand Canyon is one of the most popular attractions in the U.S. But sometimes it’s easy to forget to pay the attraction a visit when you are only thinking about gambling and pool parties. The sights are worth taking a day to explore the attraction. There are several ways to experience the Canyon. You can do a helicopter tour that will show you the Grand Canyon and other parts of Las Vegas. You can even rent scooters and other specialized vehicles and do a tour.

4. Kayaking at Emerald Cove: Do a kayak tour in the Colorado river at Emerald Cove. There are buses that will depart from hotels and take you to and from the destination when you book a tour.
